Production of an inspiring and informative research-based publication on social change philanthropy co-funded with other WPC grant makers.
This project began as a 'mapping/scoping' on who is doing what in the area of social change philanthropy. After some discussion and exploration it developed into its current form, focussing on provision of inspiring case studies of successful initiatives in achieving systemic change, as well as analysis of methods of achieving change. The Trust funded the first phase of this work, which led to production of a discussion paper and the current proposal. It is now envisaged as a collaborative project involving other partners in the Woburn Place Collaborative.
The project aims to increase understanding and discussion of the potential role of philanthropy in achieving structural, systemic and sustainable social change, and reduce the obstacles to engagement created by problems of language and lack of awareness of methods of change. We expect to begin work on this project early in 2007.
